Headaches

Many people are unaware that TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders, neck & facial pain and headaches can be interrelated. This can include pain and symptoms in and around the ears and eyes as well. Common complaints include ringing or hissing noises, ear stuffiness, earaches and occasionally dizziness. Other frequent symptoms can include increased sensitivity to light and sound.

There are many reasons for and many causes of headaches. Many people have experienced more than one type of headache. One of the most common symptoms of a TMJ disorder is headache or head pain. The TMJ headache is usually located in the temples, at the back of the head and even in the neck and shoulders, although any area of the head may be affected. These headaches are most frequently muscle tension-type headaches although migraine headaches have also been associated, with the TMD (temporomandibular joint disorders) acting as a triggering and/or magnifying factor.
